Highland Galerie has always placed a strong emphasis on giving back to the Columbus Community. Taking on the torch ignited by DeeDee Tabeau, Elizabeth & Landy are thrilled to explore impactful ways to connect with and support the community.
The first chapter is the announcement of a scholarship for students studying art at Columbus State University. Designed to support one student's further artistic growth annually, the Highland Galerie Scholarship sends an aspiring student artist from CSU to a summer residency program of their choosing. This residency offers the student an opportunity to study their craft and practice under new teachers in an unique environment with other artists from around the world.
Highland Galerie is excited to announce Zoee Rasso as its 2024 recipient. The Highland Galerie Scholarship will see this artist connect with and expand her passion for hand-drawn animation through study at the Penland School of Arts & Craft in North Carolina.
The scholarship seeks to nurture both learning and engagement, as Highland Galerie plans to showcase a range of work each recipient accomplishes throughout their residency, as well as host a post-residency artist talk in the Galerie. Please stay tuned for more details on this year's scholarship recipient as well as other community-driven initiatives spearheaded by Highland Galerie.

ZOEE RASSO
Zoee Rasso is a 19-year-old artist residing in Columbus Georgia. She is a painter, illustrator, and animator, currently working towards her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting at Columbus State University.
Her work focuses on exploring nature and movement, often concerning topics of environmentalism and conservation. Birds remain a primary subject of her work, having fascinated her with the ideas of flight and free spirit since childhood. Animation has also had a profound influence on her life, with animated movies having ignited her passion for drawing. Rasso carries that love for art in motion in a sketchy, loose, and dynamic painting style.
During her time at CSU, she has completed two studio internships with artist Joe Sanders, has had her work displayed in several exhibitions in the Schley Gallery, and is a three-time recipient of the Friends of Art Funding Future Artist Award.
